Reception and Fashion Show
May 7, Reception and Refreshments: 3:00PM-5:00PM, Salon-Style Fashion Show 5:00PM
LOCATION: MYA ROYAL 162 Newbury Street Boston, MA 02116
Local designer launches new brand, with production studio on site! MYA ROYAL opens her exclusive couture atelier to Boston area fashionistas and art lovers for her first ever salon style fashion show. Come for the reception and stay for the show. Lovely local models will debut the new ready-to-wear line of artistic activewear designed by Boston-born Royal and printed with her own artwork, which was in fact originally produced in the Umass/Boston printmaking lab. This blooming garden of native talent is not to be missed!
Raised on arts and crafts, MYA ROYAL began to make her own clothing as a child – right around the same time she started printmaking. By the time she came of age, she’d held her first fashion show, taken her first bespoke suit order, and sold her first fine art monotype print. Mya has a bachelors in art from the University of Massachusetts Boston, and a masters in fashion design from the Accademia Italiana in Florence, Italy. She has also studied fashion photography at the New England school of Photography, and the history of Design at Parsons in the Cooper-Hewitt Museum, a Smithsonian Institution.
Over the years, and after many shows and exhibitions, Mya’s love for art and fashion have combined to produce a readymade line of artistic activewear printed with her signature artwork, signature fine jewelry collection, and a long list of fashion services for local clients. Bespoke and couture are words with exclusive associations, but MYA ROYAL makes the world of custom fine clothing accessible to all. Within reach and out of this world, the products of her atelier are head-turning and soul-satisfying.
Born in Boston, and trained in Italy, MYA ROYAL has worked with a fascinating variety of clientele from all over the world. She started her business in the North End of Boston in 2009, and ran the shop in Italy from 2011 to 2015. In 2019 she re-opened on the Plymouth waterfront and then expanded to Newbury Street in 2021. Mya meets with clients in both Plymouth and Boston to discuss wedding plans, fit suits and gowns, sift through oodles of fabric samples, sip champagne, and essentially make fashion dreams come true.
